<p><a href="http://niecagoldbergmd.com/">Dr. Nieca Goldberg</a> is a cardiologist and a nationally recognized pioneer in women’s heart health. Her New York City practice Total Heart Care focuses primarily on caring for women. Dr. Goldberg is Associate Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of NYU Women’s Heart Program, the Co-Medical Director of the 92nd Street Y’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, a national spokesperson for the American Heart Association’s “Go Red” campaign, an AHA volunteer for over 15 years and served as a board member in NYC. Previously she was the Chief of Women’s Cardiac Care at Lenox Hill Hospital.</p>
<p>Dr. Goldberg is the author of the award winning and highly acclaimed book Women Are Not Small Men, which is now updated and entitled The Women’s Healthy Heart Program – Lifesaving Strategies for Preventing and Healing Heart Disease, published by Ballantine Books.</p>
<p>Dr. Goldberg’s research and medical publications are concerned with cardiovascular disease in women, exercise imaging and exercise. She has appeared many times on The Today Show as well as The View, Good Morning America, The Early Show, and CBS Evening News. In addition she has been featured and interviewed by reporters from The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Fitness Magazine, and many others discussing women and heart disease. She serves on the Woman’s Day Editorial Advisory Board.</p>

<p>In addition, Dr. Kaufman discusses the impact of diabetes in ethnic populations and lower socioeconomic groups, and how to enroll communities in prevention programs and behavioral change.</p>
<p>Dr. Francine Kaufman is Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics and Communications at the Keck School of Medicine and the Annenberg School of Communications of USC, and Head of the Center for Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism at <a href="http://www.childrenshospitalla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3468855/k.E8EF/Leader_in_Pediatric_and_Adolescent_Health.htm">Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles</a>. </p>
<p>Dr. Kaufman has been funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1980, and is the current Chair of the National Diabetes Education Program, which is jointly sponsored by the NIH and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.</p>
<p>Dr. Kaufman has published more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, as well as more than 200 articles and abstracts. She is the author of more than 30 books and book chapters, including the best-selling book, <em>Diabesity</em>.</p>
<p>In November 2008, Dr. Kaufman joined <a href="http://www.medtronic.com/">Medtronic</a> as Vice President of Global Medical Affairs for the diabetes business.</p>

She describes <a href="http://www.uc.edu/pregnancystudy/">recent research</a> concerning the effects of maternal obesity on the baby. Dr. Krummel discusses a three-step program for the prevention of chronic disease.</p>
<p>Dr. Krummel is a nationally recognized expert on cardiovascular health. She is an Endowed Associate Professor and Millennium Scholar in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Cincinnati.</p>
<p>Her areas of expertise are women’s cardiovascular health, obesity prevention in postpartum women, and fetal origins of cardiovascular disease.  Currently, she is studying the relation between maternal obesity and diet to inflammatory markers in African-American women.</p>
<p>Dr. Krummel has published more than 50 papers and abstracts and given over 100 presentations in several countries. She is the co-editor of 3 books including <em>Nutrition and Women’s Health</em>, and the author of 17 book chapters.</p>

<a href="http://medicine.iupui.edu/DTRC/">Dr. David Marrero</a> discusses the extent of diabetes in the U.S. and the symptoms and severity of the diisease. Dr. Marrero discusses the findings and implications of the Diabetes Prevention Program, the landmark clinical trial. The DPP demonstrated the significant impact of lifestyle modifications on reduction of risk for developing diabetes.</p>
<p><BR>Dr. Marrero describes the lifestyle recommendations in detail &#8211; in the study, there was almost a 60% reduction in risk for those participating in the lifestyle portion of the DPP. His current research is demonstrating that similar results and reduction of risk are available in daily life.</p>
<p>Dr. David Marrero is the J.O. Ritchey Professor of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, and Director of the Diabetes Translational Research Center. Dr. Marrero helped design the Diabetes Prevention Program. His research interests include strategies for promoting diabetes prevention, improving diabetes care practices used by primary care providers, and the use of technology to facilitate care and education.</p>
<p>Dr. Marrero is currently associate editor for <em>Diabetes Forecast</em>. He was twice awarded the Allene Von Son Award for Diabetes Patient Education Tools by the American Association of Diabetes Educators.</p>

He is a recipient of the 2008 American Heart Association Humanitarian Award, and has been recognized by the Consumer Council of America as one of the top physicians in America.</p>
<p>Dr. Ozner&#8217;s new book is The Great American Heart Hoax: Lifesaving Advice Your Doctor Should Tell You About Heart Disease Prevention (But Probably Never Will). <p>Dr. Wagner is a general internist/epidemiologist and Director of the MacColl Institute for Healthcare Innovation at the Center for Health Studies Group Health Cooperative. His research and quality improvement work focus on improving the care of seniors and others with chronic illness.</p>
<p>Since 1998, Dr. Wagner has directed “Improving Chronic Illness Care”, a national program of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He and his MacColl Institute colleagues developed the Chronic Care Model, which now serves as the foundation for improving ambulatory care for many organizations nationally and internationally.</p>
<p>Dr. Wagner has written two books and more than 250 publications.  He is a member of the Institute of Medicine and serves on the editorial boards of the British Medical Journal and the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology.  Dr. Wagner is the recipient of the 2007 NCQA Health Quality Award and the 2007 Picker Institute Award for Excellence in the Advancement of Patient-centered Care.</p>

<p>The stratified approach includes mining masses of patient data to deliver actionable items, relating both to risk profiling and optimal testing. The whole person is emphasized, including genetics and co-morbidities, as well as the home and work environments. The result moves from statistical analysis to causal analysis, and treats disease states as a process.</p>
<p>Dr. Liebman is President and Managing Director of <a href="http://www.strategicmedicine.com">Strategic Medicine, </a>Inc. Previously, he was Executive Director of the Windber Research Institute and Director of Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics at the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute of the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center.</p>
<p>Dr. Liebman serves on 12 international scientific advisory boards and is an Invited Professor at the Shanghai Center for Bioinformatics Technology.</p>
